Being a teenager can be a very difficult time.  Teens are faced with many pressures and challenges that they, at times, are not able to deal with.

MY WORK WITH TEENS

In my work with teens it is imperative for counseling to be successful that they feel comfortable with me and are willing to participate. It is common for teens to be apprehensive, or at times, even angry about coming to counseling.  Generally this passes fairly quickly and they begin to utilize the opportunity and welcome a safe place to come and openly express themselves without judgment. 

 I work with teens on a variety of challenges, some of the most common challenges are:

• Self-harming behaviors
• Relationship Issues
• Parental conflict
• Trauma (past & present)
• Academic challenges
• Social Issues
• Depression
• Anxiety
• Poor coping skills

CONFIDENTIALITY & TEENS

In the state of Washington individuals who are age 13 or older have their own confidentiality.  As a parent it is important for you to understand that legally I am unable to disclose to you what your teen discusses with me in his/her counseling sessions without the teen signing a release of information allowing me to do so. 

Please keep in mind that the law also allows for confidentiality to be broken under certain circumstances.  

To insure that your teenager understands what can and can not be discussed with you I ask them to sign a detailed agreement.  To view please click here
